BPC uses Nullifire fire resistant coatings. They appear identical to conventional paint finishes, but in a fire they swell to become a meringue like substance which provides vital insulation for the structural steelwork.

The Degree of fire protection needed is normally defined by building regulations and the thickness of the coating is specified to satisfy those requirements.

Fortunately, fires in buildings are rare--but should one occur in a building protected with Nullifire coatings, the structure will be insulated and undamaged, and following the fire the meringue can be easily removed and a fresh coating applied--thus reducing building costs.
